2026 Club Season Opener Recap – Portage Lakes

A tough bite, a strong turnout, big fish brought to the scales, and the first AOY standings of the 2026 season.

The Mosquito Creek Bass Club officially kicked off the 2026 season on April 11, 2026 at Portage Lakes, and it was a great way to start the year.

While conditions made for a tough bite, several teams were able to make the right adjustments and capitalize—bringing some solid bags to the scales. It was not an easy day by any means, but that is what made the results even more impressive.

Leading the way was the team of Paul Rondy & Ed Hankins, taking the win with a strong bag weighing 20.07 lbs. Close behind, Eric Battershell & Bob Bailey secured second place with 18.24 lbs, followed by John O’Farrell & Fred Clapp in third with 17.98 lbs, and Frank Reno & Jason Barrish rounding out the top four with 16.67 lbs.

We paid out four places, and just outside the money, our 5th place team received a $30 bag of lures courtesy of Tag’em Kustomz Lures. They have stepped up in a big way this season and will be donating a prize pack for every club event in 2026.

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined the club this season. You guys are what make this club special, and we are looking forward to another great year on the water.
